Environmental Governance System
Maintaining and Improving the Management System
Under its Environmental Basic Policy, the Mitsuboshi Belting Group has established an environmental management system (EMS) aligned with ISO 14001 and promotes environmental conservation activities. In addition to conserving resources and energy and reducing environmentally hazardous substances, the Environmental Basic Policy covers the prevention of global warming through reductions in CO2 emissions, water resource conservation through reduced water use and appropriate wastewater treatment, biodiversity conservation, forest conservation, and initiatives toward a circular economy through the 3Rs and waste reduction.
The organizational and management structure of the EMS in Japan is outlined below. Environmental departments, the smallest units of activity, operate under the district environmental committees established at each site and report their activities monthly to the relevant committee secretariat. Each district environmental committee meets monthly to review departmental activities and report the results to the Company-wide Environmental Secretariat. The Company-wide Environmental Secretariat consolidates reports from all sites, reports the results to the General Environmental Manager, and shares the information across the organization.
The General Environmental Manager convenes the Health, Safety and Environment Meeting twice a year. The meeting is chaired by the executive officer responsible for safety and the environment, and its members comprise all department general managers. The Company-wide Environmental Secretariat reports the consolidated activities of each site to the President and members of the Management Council. The meeting evaluates these activities and uses the results to determine future policies, initiatives and targets.

Employee Environmental Education and Training
As part of the Group’s environmental activities, the environmental secretariats designated under the ISO 14001-aligned EMS prepare and implement annual environmental education and training plans. The principal programs include training for newly assigned employees (environmental policy and targets, environmental manuals, and related topics); training for general employees (environmental policy and targets, environmental management plans, and competence-based education and training); management training (environmental policy and targets, environmental management plans, internal standards, and revisions to environmental laws and regulations); and other training, such as emergency response training, internal auditor training, and training for personnel required to hold statutory qualifications.
The current training program focuses primarily on compliance with environmental laws and regulations and internal standards. Going forward, the Group will continue to incorporate current environmental priorities, including climate change, biodiversity conservation, water resource conservation, and the transition to a circular economy, and to use this training to strengthen environmental action throughout its business activities.
Status of ISO 14001 Certification
The Group has established environmental management systems aligned with ISO 14001 at production sites in Japan and overseas and works continuously to maintain and improve them. The Group also undergoes third-party audits to maintain and renew its ISO 14001 certifications. As of 2025, 12 Group production sites maintained ISO 14001 certification.
