As part of its efforts to become carbon neutral by 2050, Mitsuboshi Belting Ltd. (Head Office: Kobe City, Hyogo Prefecture) switched the energy used at its Kobe Plant R&D center and Shikoku Plant to one that can contribute to the reduction of CO2 emissions, following the installation of solar power generation systems on the roofs of the Kobe Plant R&D center central Plant's third and fourth buildings in November 2021.

1. In June 2022, the Kobe Plant R&D center switched to “Carbon Neutral City Gas" provided by OSAKA GAS CO., LTD.*

2. In July 2022, the Shikoku Plant switched to "renewable energy electricity" provided by Shikoku Electric Power Company., Inc. (Head office: Takamatsu City, Kagawa Prefecture).

【Future Plans】
・The Kobe Plant R&D center will switch to the "Renewable Energy ECO Plan" provided by The Kansai Electric Power Company, Inc. (Head Office: Kita-ku, Osaka) in October 2022.

・The Shikoku Plant is planning to install a solar power generation system on its rooftop to generate its own electricity.

Based on its basic philosophy of “To give attentive consideration to both humanity and nature." the Group is working toward the realization of a decarbonized society through its business activities in order to contribute to the realization of a sustainable society. In May 2022, in the “Revision to Mid-Term Business Plan (FY2021-2023)" we announced our mid- to long-term goal of becoming carbon neutral by 2050. We will continue our group-wide efforts to reduce CO₂ emissions and conserve resources to contribute to the realization of a sustainable society.

By switching to renewable electricity, we will reduce CO2 emissions by approximately 1,200 tons at the Kobe Plant R&D center and approximately 4,000 tons at the Shikoku Plant.

The introduction of carbon-neutral city gas contributes to the reduction of CO2 emissions of approximately 70 tons.

(Note) The figures may change depending on the energy input associated with production conditions. Figures are estimates.

*The term “Carbon Neutral City Gas" refers to city gas that utilizes carbon neutral LNG, which offsets the greenhouse gases produced in each of the processes of natural gas extraction, transportation, manufacturing, and combustion with CO₂ credits.
