RoboCup 2022 Robot Adopts Timing Belt Made of Engineering Plastic

Mitsuboshi Belting Ltd. (Head Office: Kobe City, Hyogo Prefecture), in response to a request from Ri-one, a project group affiliated with the Faculty of Information Science and Technology at Ritsumeikan University, has supplied timing belts and engineering plastic materials for robots to participate in the 2022 RoboCup, an international competition of autonomous mobile robots.

Ritsumeikan University’s project group "Ri-one" participated for the first time in the "Small Size League" of "RoboCup Soccer", one of the events in the "RoboCup", an international competition of autonomous mobile robots in which more than 30 countries participate yearly.We provided our timing belt and polyacetal resin material for the dribbling mechanism part of the robot. Ri-one's robot was able to score three goals by utilizing its dribbling mechanism, but ended up in 5th place.
We will continue to support Ri-one in realizing its their dream of winning the RoboCup.

About ”Ri-one”
Ri-one is a project organization affiliated with the College of Information Science and Technology, Ritsumeikan University. Its goals are to "win the RoboCup competition," "raise awareness of RoboCup," and "contribute to the RoboCup project," and to develop a wide range of information science fields through development and research of robots for RoboCup competition and exchange at the competition.
