Using the phenomenon of electric current flowing through a defective part of the impermeable material Spark inspection finds minute pinholes
While visual inspection can be used to detect relatively large surface defects, it is impossible to visually check all of the minute defects (pinholes) that significantly affect the performance of impervious surfaces. Spark inspection detects minute defects in the impervious material by using the phenomenon of electric current flowing through the defective part of the impervious material, and enables confirmation of pinholes, which was not possible by visual inspection.
A conductive mat is laid on the bottom layer of the sheet to allow spark inspection by an inspection machine.
If the substrate is reinforced concrete, a spark inspection can be performed using a dedicated inspection machine.
