Q

Is there a specific direction to install the belt?

A

Raw Edge V-belts and V-ribbed Belts are not specified in which direction they are to be installed, but some Timing Belts and Variable Speed Belts are specified.

Q

Is the Cogged V-belt an engaged transmission?

A

This is a friction transmission type that transmits power by the side of the belt.

Q

Is there a problem with the thread fraying on the back of the belt?

A

There is no problem.

Q

Some Star Fit™ have different length markings from the genuine ones. Is there any problem with the fit?

A

Some part numbers may differ in size due to differences in belt manufacturers' thinking, but there is no problem with the fit.

Q

What is Star Fit™? Is it a different product from a V-ribbed belt?

A

Star Fit™ are special V-ribbed belts for specific engines in which the pulleys do not move. It is made of a different material from ordinary V-ribbed belts and can be installed without moving the pulleys, while maintaining the proper tension.

Q

Are cracks a sign of belt replacement?

A

The standard time for belt replacement depends on the material of the rubber. By changing the rubber material from CR to EPDM, cracking is less likely to occur, but abrasion still occurs. Abrasion condition should also be used as a replacement guideline.

Q

The belt has broken and come apart. What are the possible causes?

A

As belt abrasion progresses, the belt may break.
